The Greater Houston Area Chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA Houston) Chapter was recently notified that one of our past Presidents, Glenn Ray, passed away un-expectedly on Monday, January 5, 2015, in Humble, TX.
He was born May 6, 1951 in Albuquerque NM and he attended Haltom High School in Haltom, Texas. He was looking forward to returning to be inducted in to their Hall of Fame for several State records he set in the high jump. Glenn attended Rice University lettering for four years as a member of the track and field team, and graduated in 1975 with a B.A. in Commerce.
Glenn worked for various companies during his career including the Superior Oil, Coastal Corporation, Southwest Bank of Texas, which later became Amegy Bank, Deloitte and as IT Audit Manager at Enterprise Products. Glenn was always committed to improving controls at any company he was at and this carried over to his work with ISACA, where he was always helping those in the profession, including those just starting out.
Glenn served the IT Community by mentoring others and serving on the Board of the Houston Chapter of ISACA. Not only did he serve as President from 1993 to 1994, but held many different positions over the years, including volunteering his time to help with two North America Computer Audit, Control and Security (CACS) conferences and chairing several nominating committees to ensure the ISACA Houston Chapter had the leadership necessary to grow into the Chapter it is today.
Glenn was a caring and beloved family man, a cherished colleague and friend. He will be missed by many, but he will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to have known him!
